Page Rank is nothing but the measure of a website’s visibility over the web. So the only way to get a higher Page Rank is by getting some quality link-backs to your website. One very important factor to keep in mind is the fact that Google is against attempts made by webmasters to unnaturally increase their Page Ranks. This means Google is against link farms, link selling and any other practice which has been specifically developed to increase the Page Rank of a website in an unnatural manner. Google considers such attempts as a manipulation of its ranking algorithm and can even penalize websites found guilty. Google clearly explains this on its website.

One easy way of generating links in involves searching the internet to find relevant sites that are either vertically or horizontally related and asking them for a link exchange. Links brought in this manner are more effective and can help successfully increase the Page Rank. In addition to getting links from websites, getting links from quality directories is another way to increase your link popularity. You can also generate inbound links through article submission and press releases among others.

Some important factors to consider:

1. Try and get High PR Links
Quality of back links secured is more important than the mere volume of back links. A link from a webpage having a PR7 will fetch a website more value than 200 back links from a PR3 page. In addition to this the relevancy of links is also taken into consideration by Google in its ranking algorithm. So it important to get back links from related websites (Websites should be related either horizontally or vertically). Getting too many links from unrelated websites is considered by Google as an attempt to unnaturally gather links and the website may be penalized.

2. Avoid Link backs to Link Farms
Link Farms are very similar to webrings. Link farms are formed for the sheer purpose of exchanging links and improving the link popularity of participating websites. The downside is that link farms are considered by Google and other major search engines as ‘bad neighborhoods’. This means that participating in link farms can get a website penalized to the extent that the site’s listing may be removed. So make sure you stay out of link farms and do not link back to any of them from your website.

3. Carry Out Internal Link Text Optimization
As mentioned above, page-ranks are specific to a web page and do not apply to the entire website. But this does not mean that a website having 100 odd pages has to secure links for all those 100 pages individually. The best part about Page Rank is that it is passed on from one page to another and this applies to internal pages as well. So in-case a website has a homepage rank of ‘6′ chances are that the page rank will be passed on to the internal pages and all of them might get a PR of 3 to 4. The thing to note here is the linking structure of a website. Page rank can pass from one page to another only if the pages are interlinked. The best way to go about it is by including a Site Map or providing site wide links on a website.

4. Get Links from SEO friendly Directories
One way links or links that are not reciprocated are generally given more value as they seem more like a naturally secured link. Links from good directories are hence an excellent means of increasing the page rank and to also get more crawls. OPD is a great directory to start with.

5. Get Links that are Placed Higher
Generally in a link exchange campaign websites tend to place outbound links on specially created link pages. The fact to be noted here is that the Page Rank is passed based on the order of links and the number of links on that webpage. So the links on top of the link page will get more PR value in comparison to those at the bottom.

Outgoing links and Page Rank:

The supposition that outgoing links can cause PR leakage may be true for all you know. But it would be safe to assume that even if outgoing links do leak PR, the leak is almost insignificant in comparison to the PR gained by a website from an incoming link. One thing that should be taken into consideration is the number of links on a webpage. Google emphasizes that no webpage should have more than 100 hyperlinks.

Onsite optimization and offsite optimization are the two pillars of the search marketing world. Here are a few tips to optimize your web presence “onsite”:

Search engines may place significant weight on domain age, site authority, link anchor text and usage data.

The page title is typically weighted more than most any other text on the page.

The meta keywords tags, comments tags, and other somewhat hidden inputs may be given less weight than page copy.

Page copy which is bolded, linked, or in a heading tag is likely given greater weighting than normal text.

Weights are relative. If your whole page is in an H1 tag that looks shady, and it does not place more weight on any of the text since all the page copy is in it.

You probably want to avoid doing things like bolding H1 text as it is doubtful it will make a page seem any more relevant.

Lots are queries are a bit random in nature. When people tweak up page copy for an arbitrarily higher keyword density they typically end up removing some of the modifier terms that were helping the page appear relevant for many 3 and 4 word search queries.

Semantic related algorithms, may look at supporting vocabulary when determining the relevancy of a page. If you pulled the keyword phrase you were targeting out of your page copy would it still be easy for a search engine to mathematically model what that phrase was and what your page is about given the supporting text?

When people focus too much on keyword density they tend to write content which people would not be interested in reading or linking at.

Having a solid coded website that is well organized and placed on the website as text (not flash) with as much high quality content and as many pages as possible, is one of the best ways to present a high quality site to Google, and you are more likely to rank more highly for keywords.

To those on the outside, copy is an enigmatic art form, the artist who, for all practical purposes, is invisible. But written copy is everywhere. It’s as prolific as sand in the Sahara and Starbucks on a city street. From ads sprawled across buses to bylines in magazines, a branded t-shirt logo or a memorable movie quote; every single word that enters the public arena has been chosen with utmost precision for one very specific individual: you.

There are two ways to dissect the aforementioned skill. On the one hand, copy is a marketing tool, one that not only entices its audience but also builds a loyal following. On the other hand, it tells a story and links the consumer, knowingly or unknowingly, to a product or a service. This is why your copy should work towards a goal: To form an emotional connection that resonates long after the words are no longer visible. When good copy is out of sight, it is very much still on the mind.

But how does one go about generating this written form of time-tested communication, and why is it such an indispensible commodity for any business?

These questions can easily be plugged into a search engine, but what you’ll dig up is an endless list of dotcoms offering “the top ten,” or better yet, “the top eleven” tips for success. And like most Internet searches, the secrets divulged from one website to another will not differ dramatically.

What you won’t find is that quality copy is as much about what you shouldn’t do than what you should. So rather than reiterate the already accessible steps to creating effective copy, we’re providing novel notes on how to avoid a copy catastrophe.

1. Don’t rely on a thesaurus. It’s obvious when an overwrought word has muddled the meaning of a sentence. If you’re unsure, just maintain a simple, conversational tone. Reading out loud, as if you were speaking to your audience, can be tremendously valuable.

2. Don’t fall back on hackneyed manners of expression, as clichés have been called the compost of art. You will get greater feedback for describing why a deal is good than suggesting, “It’s like stealing candy from a baby.” That is, unless you are trying to promote for Milton Hershey.

3. Don’t market anything that you are unfamiliar with. Know the product like the back of your hand. (Did you catch that? You should not say, “Know the product like the back of your hand.”) Dishonest writing tends to be unclear, and if you don’t believe what you’re writing, how will the customer? Ample research should precede the task at large.

4. Don’t write boring sentences. Just as you don’t always start sentences with the same word, neither should copy. Avoid beginning with “the” or “it” too often. Do vary sentence length and structure. It will engage the reader. It will give you a distinct voice. It will get a positive reaction. (See? Boring.)

5. Don’t be vague. Since the online and offline market is so enormous, it’s rare to come across an idea that’s wholly unique. Do use specific details to differentiate your product from another, and use these descriptions for promotional means. Gertrude Stein may be famous for scribing, “A rose is a rose is a rose,” but yours should be long stemmed, have burgundy petals, and a fragrance that would make a skunk blush.

1). Community Creation in Social Networking Sites
Also known as online reputation management, this is the first and foremost step with which you have to initiate your process. Try to become a member of the most popular social networking sites like Orkut, Myspace, Facebook, Linked In, Ecademy, etc., and create a profile of your own. By doing this you can extend your network online, get connect with your friends, share things with each other, and promote your company/website to build an online reputation. This is most likely the same as Web 2.0 (Participatory Web), which means you have to show your active participation on a regular basis.

2). Blogging
This is one of the most powerful ways to promote your company/website online. Write a blog of your own for your company/website and include lots of unique content. Be precise in what you’re trying to convey for the users in your blog entry and promote your blog in blog directories and blog search engines. You can also promote your blog/website by posting comments in other service-related blogs which allow links in the comments section that are crawlable by the search engines (these blogs are commonly identified as Do-Follow Blogs). If you’re not very good at writing content for blog posts, hire a guest blogger for your blog and ask him/her to write precise and unique content so that your blog can gain more credit from a search engine point of view.

3). Forum Postings
Create a forum/online discussion board of your own and start a discussion or share topics with your friends. You can also post/reply to a thread in other service-related pre-existing forums that allow links in your signature which can be crawled by the search engines (aka “Do-Follow Forums”).

4). Search Engine Submission
Submit your website to the most popular search engines like Google, Yahoo, MSN, Altavista, Alexa, Alltheweb, Lycos, Excite, etc., to get listed for free.

5). Directory Submission
Many people may say that directory submission is dead. As far as I’m concerned it is still alive. It is purely based on how effectively we are selecting those directories and how efficiently we are choosing the category for submission. Of course, I agree that it gives quite delayed results, but it is worth doing it. Submit your websites to the topmost quality directories like DMOZ, Yahoo Directory, ZoomInfo, One Mission, Pegasus, etc. Nowadays many web directories may offer paid listings but don’t go for it.

6). Social Bookmarking
Social Bookmarking is yet another powerful way of promoting your website, but nowadays most people are spamming social bookmarking sites without knowing how to use them. Since content in these websites update frequently, search engines like these types of sites and often visit them (this is commonly termed as Tagsonomy & Folksonomy in Web 2.0). Do some social bookmarking in popular bookmarking sites like Digg, Delicious, StumbleUpon, Propeller, etc. You should be very careful while doing this and you must properly handle the tags which are very essential to broadcast your news on a wide area network. This may increase your website traffic based on how effectively you have participated.

7). Link Baiting
Suppose you have copied/published another website’s news or content in your blog/website. Don’t forget to place their website link as a reference. Do it for others and, if your content is trustworthy, let others do it for you. This is another way to increase your link popularity.

8). Cross-Linking
Link to internal pages within your site wherever necessary (this is commonly termed Internal Linking). This increases your internal link popularity ,which is another major factor of Google Page Rank algorithm. The best known example of successful internal linking is Wikipedia. Also try to get a content link from websites/blogs that are related to your site theme. Try getting a link from within their site content using a targeted keyword as anchor text (much like Wikipedia does). We know that this strategy can often be hard to implement, but these types of links have more weight from a search engine point of view.

9). Video Promotions
Like with photo sharing, you can publish/share your product videos, expert opinions, and reviews of your product and make them public in YouTube, Metacafe, Dailymotion, etc.

10). Business Reviews
Write reviews about others businesses or ask your friends/clients to write a review of your business in major business review sites like RateitAll, Shvoong, Kaboodle, Stylefeeder, etc.

11). Local Listings & Yellow Pages
Instead of going global and facing huge competition, make your website local so that search engines can easily view your website and fetch the content. This will help you to reach a targeted audience. Submit your website to Google Local, Maps, Yahoo Local, Yellow Pages, Superpages, Hotfrog, etc.

12). Article Submission
Write articles of your own and submit them to popular article sites like Ezine, Go Articles, Now Public, Buzzle, etc. This will help you to attain some deep links for your website (though it’s usually a slower process).

13). Press Release Promotion
If you are a business/service provider then go for PR submission in popular PR websites like 1888pressrelease, Open PR, PR Leap, etc. This will help you to publish your site in Google News.

14). Answers
Participate in Answers by asking and answering relevant questions and placing a link to your website in the source section if necessary. If you don’t spam, this is another great way to increase your link popularity (Yahoo Answers, Cha-Cha, Answer Bag, etc.)

15). PPC Ad Campaign
When none of the above strategies work for you, go for a PPC ad campaign with your targeted keywords. Remember that you have to pay to drive more traffic towards your website through PPC.

Ann Arbor, Michigan –February 19, 2010 – Despite tough economic times especially in metro-Detroit and throughout Michigan, Compel LLC (CompelInteraction.com) adds truth to the suggestion that the tech-industry still has expansive opportunity. Compel has recently hired six new employees and is clearing more offices for greater potential growth. It has recently renovated its conference room with a very modern projector and plasma screen televisions for video conference and screen shot presentations for ease of communicating with clients.

“We’ve worked very hard here in Ann Arbor because we realize the growth potential with businesses that know that web optimization and internet marketing are important new aspects in finding success today,” said Compel CEO Ted Apostoleris. “The positions we’ve added have created a diverse team of capable consultants that have made Compel able to do just about anything from web design and development, to search engine optimization, programming, photography, conventional and unconventional marketing, to providing promotional ideas and so on.”

Compel’s newest endeavor is an exploration into social media networking on a business level. Given that the largest growing demographic of social media users is above the age of 40, Compel believes there is some definite worth to adding a position devoted to social media for business opportunities.

Having locations in Traverse City and Chicago as well as contacts in New York seems to give strength and flexibility to its web team. Most importantly is its headquarters in Ann Arbor, being positioned to add to the tech innovative image that the area has, and is easy to find for businesses anywhere.

Compel currently reviews applications for positions daily and is located at:

167 Little Lake Drive, Suite 100

Ann Arbor, MI 48103

Before the turn of the century, it seemed that by 2010 we’d be operating flying cars, vacationing on the moon, and using robots to cook and clean the house. So forgive our disappointment in grounded automobiles, terrestrial beach resorts, and brooms. While monumental advancements in lifestyle luxuries may seem behind schedule, there is one industry that is speeding ahead with more velocity than a Lamborghini. It’s a little well kept secret known as The Internet, and if you or your business isn’t on it, what, may we ask, are you on?

We’ve heard this dilemma before: developing a web-based business model is time and financially consuming, right? Wrong! Online marketing investments are endlessly worth both the time and financial input to increase company efficiency and efficacy. With the right strategic maneuvers, you might just be able to buy yourself a hovercraft or space odyssey by 2011.

With a new decade well underway, the organizational pyramid is likely to be used for diet regimens unlikely to last through the end of the month. Let’s instead use the pyramid to set goals-resolutions, if you will-that are rationale, realistic, and reliable.

This year, we endeavor to:

Make sure your online presence doesn’t lag behind with cars, cruises, and cleaning services.

Continue to compel you and your customers through 2010 with the latest forms of online marketing.

Support your goals in the same way the building blocks of a pyramid support the very top of the structure.

Put your full trust in our team to act as an integral support system to your team.

If you’ve never thought about creating moodboards and wireframes in designing and architecting your website, think again. They can save you time and energy.

Not only should your website have your vital information, but it should communicate with your intended customer. Useful in that endeavor, a small process involves several parameters.

Wireframes are an architecture tool. After creating a sitemap to determine what the pages are going to be on your website, you want to determine what and where you want the visitor to go. You want to get into their head, and think about what they might want to do, what you want to include on your website, and how you want the user to be given access to it.

After creating wireframes, the moodboards become the real test. This is when you lay out the wireframe, and include any brand oriented communication and messages.

You end with a moodboard for the page, and have an established look, feel, blended with your functional and marketing methods.

“…Research released today [December 18, 2008] by the National Restaurant Association shows that Americans are looking for healthier options and “greener” restaurants when they dine out, in addition to an increased interest in value and convenience……

Consumers are looking for value, variety, healthier options and convenience, and they know that restaurants will provide them the experiences and choices they are seeking……

In 2009, it is predicted that nearly half of consumers’ food budget will be spent in restaurants, rewarding the continued responsiveness and innovation that our industry provides to budget-conscious Americans…”Source: http://www.restaurant.org/pressroom/print/index.cfm?ID=1726

“E-mail and the Internet have become an integral part of most Americans’ daily activities, and as restaurants play an essential role in our lives, consumers are looking for this convenience in restaurant services as well,” said [National Restaurant] Association President and CEO Dawn Sweeney.

Source: http://www.restaurant.org/pressroom/print/index.cfm?ID=1701

“We’re in a time-short society – the vast majority of Americans feel pressed for time,” says David Pearce Snyder, contributing lifestyles editor of Futurist magazine in Bethesda, Maryland. The 1999 Lunch Study bears that theory out, as roughly half of full-time employees agreed that they are spending less time eating lunch than they used to.

“Consumers now see eating as something to be done while you do something else,” says Snyder. “Everybody wants to save time by multitasking – eat while you work, drive, watch television.”

When the minds at Compel Interaction created the Compel Cart System, we first looked at other Online Ordering companies and how they did it. Compel located one main problem with their cart systems: the cart was on a different website than the company’s website. This causes users to be directed away from a companys’ products and also forces the user to have to navigate through multiple sites to order one companys’ items. The next problem that Compel saw, was that only large franchise company’s could afford a cart system that is integrated entirely into the company page.Compel set out to correct these two main problems and revolutionize the Online Ordering industry. What makes the Compel Cart System different is:

The Cart System is installed directly on your site and looks just like another page on your website.

The consumer is never redirected away from your homepage, and the customer’s order is obtained quickly and conveniently.

The Cart System is designed to be affordable and inexpensive for non-franchise businesses, but is capable of handling large companies too.

Take-Out Statistics

According to OnlineOrderingForRestaurants.com, online ordering has increased orders for restaurants by a staggering amount:

Take-out business has increased over 75% in the last 20 years

Take-out now accounts for more than 58% of total restaurant traffic

75% of consumers use take-out at least once a month

33% of consumers used curbside service in the past year
