Bivouac, one of the Midwest's largest outdoor apparel, adventure gear, and fashion clothing establishments for more than three decades required a website that would be versatile enough to satisfy the diversity of their clientele.

Compel facilitated the installation of a point of sale system: Celerant, and integrated between Celerant, architecting, designing, and developing a custom eCommerce web platform that manages products, orders, discounts, coupons, website content, and marketing collateral through web interfaces.

Memorable. Trigger a memory, and you can evoke an unavoidable feeling. It's that feeling-that memorable experience-that turns a one-time customer into a long-term client.
At Compel, our approach to web branding and site design is both art and science-a visual and interactive quest to fashion a distinct memory out of a lone experience. What makes this single moment stand out from every other moment? Details, details, details.
Details are what make your company unique, successful, and indispensible. We use these shining points to your advantage when customizing and branding your website. How do we get these tidbits of imperative information?
Our energetic team goes straight to the source-you. We talk to you, get to know your goals outside and in, and find creative ways to place your business within its ideal market in a standout way. The details that make your brand distinctive are what make your online presence memorable after the computer screen shuts off.
Ford Motor Company is a global company committed to redefining their product as one of reliable, efficient luxury, so it is only fitting that their website be one of reliable, efficient luxury as well. To meet this goal, Team Detroit, the elite billion dollar ad agency at the forefront of Ford's advertising campaigns, recruited Compel in this ongoing effort to develop and maintain the new Ford.com and Lincoln.com.
Collaborating with a select group in Team Detroit's digital division, Compel productively manages front-end development of Ford.com and Lincoln.com including but not limited to creation, upgrades, new developments, ongoing, and future maintenance of the sites. Both online platforms were built with an organized Model-view-controller (MVC) framework for ease of maintenance with many contributors, and streams data directly from the master databases on location at Ford.
For Ford.com, we've made direct contributions to header and footer, global search, car specifications details, reviews, payment estimators, locate your dealer functionality, Mustang Buzz, and much more. For Lincoln.com, we made direct contributions to the currently live homepage and warranty sections, and contributed to features on the global platform for re-design in preparation for the new site launch in August 2010.
Compel continues to uphold an enduring association with these duties, delivering not only a website of reliable and efficient luxury but ongoing web development management service of analogous attributes as well.
Customized. Sure, there are plenty of cookie cutter templates used when establishing a company's online presence, but remember, if you opt to build a house out of Lego's, you won't end up with round corners. Your ecommerce site deserves to be exclusively scrutinized, molded, refined, and perfected to meet all of your business and client's individual online needs.
To complicate matters more, no two businesses can run efficiently using identical systems. Do you have multiple departments; call for coupon modules; require a specialized way to organize orders; or need a shopping cart?
At the end of the day, ecommerce platforms need to be custom tailored, otherwise, running the business can feel forced, like shoving a square peg into a round hole. Our Team wears a flexible tool belt, capable of adhering to your intentions-retail, hospitality, food service, technology enterprises, professional corporations, educational groups, non-profits, and loyalty programs included.
Automatic Controls, Inc. is a trusted eCommerce source that, for over forty years, has been responsible for the widespread distribution of process instrumentation and controls.
In 2006, the President and CEO of Automatic Controls collaborated with the marketing team at Compel, seeking to enhance their recognition on the web and, consequentially, to increase their profits. Since their partnership began, Compel has designed, integrated, and launched an eCommerce website, integrating with an off-the-shelf eCommerce system: Actinic, for a quick-cost effective launch, and has continued to play an integral role in significantly increasing the company's yearly revenue by performing extensive online marketing and SEO techniques.
The Compel team helped to secure Automatic Controls' online presence as a thriving eCommerce company, presently owning the front page of Google and grossing in the range of about 3-5 million dollars annually. Now a division of Forberg Scientific, a larger sister company who purchased Automatic Controls in October of 2009, Compel continues to work in conjunction with the members of both corporations to not only maintain the web presence but to pursue even higher business objectives.

In an effort to launch a charitable credit card rewards program with United Bank & Trust, Compel members consulted with the executives, directors, and technology team at UBT, a leading financial institution in the community. The project was intended to establish a relationship between the credit card concept, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization funded by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, and the community, as well as local, regional, and national establishments committed to matching the points received per charge.
The opportunity required that Compel confer with United Bank & Trust to create & integrate a credit card rewards system. Following a boardroom meeting in which the essentials of a live IT transactional interface and online point management system were determined, the Compel team engineered, designed, and developed an easily accessible website for cardholders to track their charges and manage their rewards, as well as other stakeholder privileges. From this online platform, individuals participating in the charitable giving program could also donate their rewards to a charity of their choice, nationally.
Significant. It only takes a moment for a potential client to determine the significance of your business. It's why the first impression may as well be the only one. This fleeting test can instantly establish your online reputation. So if you only have one chance to express your business's voice in graphic form, then the colors, the shapes, the images, and ultimately, the message, should be loaded with significance.
Who are you? What are you selling? Is it a product? An idea?
Your logo is the No. 1 visual representation of this message. It tells a story, conveys emotions, and infiltrates your client's psyche. Our Team ensures that your logos, design, and all print material symbolize the overarching aesthetic message you want to send. We develop the ideas and the pitches, and do so consistently across print and online platforms.
Branding, identity, and print are central when communicating your message, and so unquestionably, they should all bear a ton of significance.
With print media on the outs (sorry, newspapers!), Borders needed to figure out a new way to stay afloat, so naturally, they decided to go down the digital media canal.
Flashback. Our initial venture with Borders was less critical. We were asked to create digital graphics for the company's website-a simple request that we completed with ease. The work we submitted surpassed expectations, and Borders returned with another more crucial task.
For our second collaboration, our team of interactive media mavens was given the challenge to launch a completely new digital center to fuel Borders during a time when paperbacks were beginning to take the backseat to electronic readers. The trick was to maintain the values by which Borders had come to be known.
For their exclusive media campaign, we generated an entire digital center to be integrated online and in stores. We approached the task using our knowledge of graphics, branding, and web design, and produced lively and engaging flash animation for their new media center.
Our Team helped compel the old Borders client in a new, innovative way, increasing their chances of survival in this digital age. Borders now sells electronic entertainment alongside printed romance novels.
Convenient. Our Team is extensively qualified to manage several content management systems, and we've already done the grunt work for you, isolating the cream of the crop. The winners? Between WordPress, Drupal, and Joomla, ask us to decipher the ideal solution for your particular needs.
Content management systems like Wordpress are so much more than blogging software alone. They're invaluable tools when it comes to social media and online management systems. Believe it or not, WordPress is the platform of choice for health insurance leader Kaiser Permanente. We suppose, even for the big guys, if you can cut a piece of cake with a knife, why use a saw?
Still, even when it comes to more complex assignments, Our Team never sacrifices convenience. Compel investigates, develops, and maintains highly intricate content management systems, like privilege systems for multitier users, that conveniently simplify even the most complex business models.
The good old paper and pen method of keeping records could only last for so long. So when SS [company confidential], an Inc 500 company who focuses on the latest high-tech equipment and consumer sales, selling as much as 20 million dollars in revenue per year via their eCommerce website -- including DirectTV, DishNetwork, and Channel Master, needed to update their returns systems, Compel provided and improved a Returns Management Authorization system.
Before we could produce a returns system, our consultant researched how SS had been processing their returns in the first place, locating the problems with their existing procedure, and deciphering a solution to ease the original method. We could then build a simplified internal customer relation management and warehouse distribution and accounting system to improve the company's data organization.
SS now is able to rely on a Returns Management Authorization system based on an extension of their previously used approach. The company is able to readily access reports on all returns through an extensive data reporting system. The returns management authorization system is capable to track each order as it goes through a lengthy series of approvals during the returns process. For a significant company like SS, the benefits of pulling up returns based on categorized reports are enormously advantageous to the company's efficiency.
